Tropenbos Viet Nam have been implemented a research on preserving and promoting traditional pottery craft and water wharf of M'nong and Ede IPLCs in Dak Lak province. The research aims to help M'nong and Ede IPLCs to sustain and improve their livehoods while contributing to the watershed forest conservation in the region.

The DFG-funded project “Fair institutions for sustainable agricultural landscapes: An empirical investigation of procedural equity in incentive-based policy instruments“ aims to generate a better understanding of the importance of procedural equity, i.e. fair decision-making processes in local level implementation of incentive-based policy instruments for the sustainable provision of ecosystem services. The project follows an embedded multi-method case study design focusing on Vietnam’s national Payments for Forest Ecosystem Services scheme, as ‘typical’ PES with collective decision-making in local level benefit-sharing mechanisms. The position is part of the working group “Governance of Ecosystem Services”. The central question of this working group is which governance approaches allow for the targeted and equitable provision of societally desired ecosystem services and biodiversity conservation objectives.

On September 21, Tropenbos Vietnam, under the chairmanship of Dak Lak People's Committee, held a working session with local authorities including the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Department of Natural Resources and Environment and relevant stakeholder to exchange research results on land encroachment issues, proposals, building a roadmap for implementation and proposals for building forest restoration projects and developing agroforestry associated with payment of accumulated carbon credits.
